Safari Room at OceanCliff Featured On BostonMagazine.com

Newport, RI is widely known as a popular summer destination but the holidays can be just as magical.

We were recently featured in Boston Magazine’s “How to Spend a Fabulous Holiday Weekend in Newport, Rhode Island” as one of the top restaurants to try while visiting Newport. “Take a sunset drive with your honey along the famed Ocean Drive before your lavishly comforting meal at OceanCliff’s Safari Room restaurant.”

While you’re here, try some new items from our winter menu such as French onion soup, fig & prosciutto flatbread, lobster carbonara, short rib, and much more.

There are so many wonderful things to do, places to eat, and stay around Newport for the holiday season. “A 90-minute drive lands you in the City by the Sea with all its seasonal splendor—think twinkly lights, holiday gallery nights, Santa sightings, hot toddies by the fire pit, and charming boutiques offering shopping specials so you can tackle everyone on your list.”

Newport has so much to offer all year round, and we hope you will come visit us soon!

Real OceanCliff Wedding: Ashley & John

Ashley and John’s coastal summer wedding at OceanCliff was filled with so much beauty and love. They had a stunning color scheme with hues of pink and orange flowers.

When Ashley described her vision for her reception she said “The main goal was for the room to feel warm and inviting. Inspired by our Italian heritage, the color palette and theme were inspired by the whimsical and dreamy coast of Italy, with personal touches throughout.”

One of our favorite moments from their wedding day was that the rain stopped and the sun came out right before the ceremony started and Ashley picked the song “Here Comes the Sun” to walk down the aisle down to. Ashley said, “that was a moment that she will cherish forever and the circumstances made it that much more special.”

This wedding was so special and it will be one that we will always remember!

The publication Destination I Do  wrote a great feature about this couple. To read about their epic love story and how they have known each other since kindergarten click here! All photos courtesy of Vanessa Joy.

The Safari Room at OceanCliff featured on: Litchfield Distillery’s Mixology Spirit Series

Litchfield Distillery recently stopped by The Safari Room at OceanCliff to chat with our restaurant manager, Reagan Nicole, and sampled our new fall cocktail, the Cocoa Maple Old Fashioned. We are honored to be the first restaurant in Newport to be featured in their Mixology Spirit Series.

The Cocoa Maple Old Fashioned is made with Litchfield’s Distillery’s 4-year Straight Bourbon along with their Bourbon-Barrel Maple Syrup.

“The addition of Dark Creme de Cacao and Cocoa Bitters adds a subtle layer of chocolate flavor, while creating a velvety-smooth mouthfeel. If you love Old Fashioneds, this is a nice, simple spin on the classic recipe—one we think is especially good for the fall and holiday seasons.”

When asked what makes a great cocktail versus just a good cocktail, Reagan said “Quality ingredients and creativity…and recognizing when simplicity is necessary.”

Thank you Litchfield Distillery for visiting us and trying one of our new fall cocktails!

Stone House Inn Featured on The Lifestyle Blog Patty J

The Stone House Inn was recently featured on The Lifestyle Blog Patty J!

We love when guests blog about their stay and share pictures with us.

“Built in 1854, it was the private residence of David Sisson who grew up in the area on a farm. Sisson worked hard and became a very successful merchant, embodying the American dream.”

“The Inn has only 14 rooms, so when you check in, the staff is so friendly and helpful you feel as if you’re a guest in a private home. Every detail has been thought through, from the creatively curated “lending library” to the 4pm wine bar with a selection of delicious cheeses to the “free’’ breakfast with an extensive array of home baked pastries, yogurt, eggs, and more.”

While they were staying with us they explored the scenery by bike and ventured down to the beach.

“I checked out the grounds from the numerous Adirondack chairs, to the bicycles…I ventured off the property along the classic New England back road that inspired Robert Frost, along a saltwater pond with an abundance of birds, geese and swans, arriving 15 minutes later at a beautiful, sandy ocean beach, that like everything else, was breathtaking.”

We enjoyed having them here with us and look forward to welcoming them back again in the future!
